Express the Elemental Forces | Term Four, 2024
In the first 3 sessions we will go out and about and source references by photographing and drawing land, sea and sky-scapes. In the last 4 sessions back in the studio, we will develop these references further towards more developed works in any 2-D media you choose. Suitable for all levels.

* Slide show of artists who capture their local and natural surroundings in their work* Field trips to scenes that will hopefully inspire your creativity
* Observational sketching * Photographing and documenting your surroundings
* Development of work back in studio
Objectives
* Gain an understanding of how to capture your surroundings in both a loose and gestural way* Extend sketches and photographs into developed works in your chosen media
Outcomes
* A collection of references that can be taken further during the week and in the future* An understanding of how to take references into developed works
* The start of a body of work that may continue after the main class into future bodies of work

Required Materials:
* Graphite or pencils 2b or 6b, charcoal - pitt and/or willow* Oil pastels and/or soft pastels, crayons (black and white)
* Pens, a range of nibs
* Camera/ phone camera (any point and shoot will do)
* Indian ink, painting equipment (optional)
* Paper, visual diaries, boards or canvas
* Drawing boards (some available in class)
