Unsure if you want to commit to a full year? A New Zealand Certificate in Creativity (Level 4) is the perfect entry-level qualification to give you a taste of what we have to offer. This 20-week course (full time) will allow you to explore a wide range of creative areas to find what's right for you.
The Learning Connexion School of Creativity and Art has a thriving campus nestled in the bush of the Hutt Valley. Our unique, colourful environment is the perfect place to begin your creative journey - and you won't want to leave.
"Students surprise themselves," says Level 4 Creativity Kaiako Karla Vink. "I had a student who was afraid of painting so he decided to go for a walk in our native bush environment with his art gear. Later in the day he came back with a completed impressionist painting of his experience of nature."
Level 4 gives you permission to play and do what you want to do. You'll learn to take responsibility in your decision making and gain confidence in your abilities.
"Students find themselves through the programme, they find like-minded individuals and their creative community. When this happens, they find their voice and become better communicators."
Quick and easy feedback from peers and Toi Kaiako about ideas and processes is the big feature of on-site study. Students find that a dynamic, supportive community enhances creativity. Many new friendships continue beyond the programme and we see students collaborating long after they have graduated.
"People from all walks of life come to Level 4. They learn from, and are inspired by each other, not intimidated. It's about drawing out, not stuffing in," says Karla.
The Learning Connexion's point of difference is that we help you find your creative process and how you work. "Level 4 is a gateway. Student who complete this are able to transfer their skills into other areas that they couldn't progress into before this."
Students studying on-site attend regular classes with specialist equipment run by experienced Toi Kiako. Students can select classes to individually tailor their programme to their own interests. Students can also contine to work on their projects onsite dto complete their programme requirements.
