5 Days 5 Ways - Evolve your Ideas | Term Four, 2024

In this experimental class you will explore materials and processes as a way to generate new ideas and approaches to creativity.
Through a series of 'quick fire' exploratory exercises during the morning sessions you will gain insight into new ways of working with a range of materials and processes.
In this class curiosity is key!
In the afternoon sessions you will be encouraged to extend and develop your discoveries into projects which harness the areas of personal interest to you.
Suitable for beginners and the more advanced student who wish to expand their creative practice to include a wider range of materials and approaches to creativity.

Content

The daily morning sessions will explore one material, using a range of guided creative approaches to gain insight into the specific properties of each selected medium.
In the afternoon sessions you will be encouraged to use an intuitive response to what you have discovered about the material. You will be encouraged to develop and extend on any areas of particular interest to you and initiate creative projects which harness your curiosity.

Objectives

* Develop and extend your creative practice in a way which incorporates new materials and approaches to creativity
* Use a materiality and process approach to generating new ideas and projects
* Have fun and follow best practice guidelines when exploring new materials and techniques

Outcomes

* Experience an extended understanding of a wider range of materials and technical approaches to expand your creative practice
* Explore a materiality and process based approach to creativity which allows for the interaction between the artist and the material to lead the way to generating ideas and developing future projects

Required Materials:
* Please bring along any favourite drawing and painting materials for the Monday morning...your favourite brushes, pastels, pens and pencils etc.
* We will be using found and foraged materials during the week
* If you have any preferred materials which are new to you, have a chat with your tutor to discuss if they will be suitable to explore in this class....they probably will be!
