Explore the world of dry media! Discover the possibilities of oil pastels, soft pastels, charcoal, and ink in this experimental class.
Learn to layer, mix, and combine these media using tools like sponges, brushes, and your fingers.
Explore how each material works and find the ones that suit your style.
You can choose what subjects you want to draw, or your Toi Kaiako can help you with ideas.
Through hands-on exercises, you’ll test techniques and surfaces while creating unique effects. At what point does a pastel drawing become a pastel painting? What happens when you layer different materials? You'll explore the answers to these and other questions about dry media with guidance from your Toi Kaiako. You’ll also learn how to fix and preserve your finished pieces for display.
This class is about playful exploration. It’s messy, fun, and full of surprises. You’ll develop confidence and expand your creative approach. Suitable for all levels, it’s a chance to push your own boundaries and grow your artistic skills.
