Distance Delivery

DVD Resources

Distance delivery gives students the flexibility to study in their own time and in their own environment. Students can study on-site and utilise our specialist facilities, or do all their study extramurally.

Once enrolled our distance delivery students are sent a resource kit including instructional DVD’s and written notes. Students also receive a copy of Jonathan Milne’s book GO! The Art of Change. Students are then assigned a mentor who facilitates their creative journey, acting as a ‘personal guide’. As students send in their work, the mentor answers questions, offers feedback and supports them to achieve their creative goals. Meet our mentors/tutors here.

Advantages of distance learning

  • The opportunity to develop art and creativity skills while meeting existing commitments (e.g. work and family)
  • Flexible study hours
  • Freephone, email and internet contact with staff and tutors
  • Replay DVD resources as many times as needed to master ideas and techniques
  • Gain the same NZQA qualification as on-site students
  • Join on-site classes without extra tuition fees
  • No travel and accommodation costs unless participating in on-site classes (which are optional)
  • Participate in The Learning Connexion student exhibitions
  • Connect with a whole school of creative people, regardless of where they’re located

TLC has a highly effective digital delivery system called the Workroom which uses internet based communication to facilitate learning. Rather than submit work via post, students can upload their work online to their Workroom profile, allowing them to contact each other and see each other’s work, as they would in a studio.
