Study On-Site

You will find that studying on-site in our vibrant, supportive community will enhance your creativity. Feedback about ideas and processes from tutors and colleagues is immediate and easy to respond to. The Learning Connexion also employs a full-time New Zealand Sign Language communicator whose primary role is to ensure effective communication between tutors and Deaf students. The relationships and collaborations developed through our programmes continue long after students leave.

Erich Krogmann

Student Profile - Erich Krogmann

Honours, On-site

Erich Krogmann is an on-site student, studying in TLC’s Deaf programme. Before coming to TLC Erich had already done some study but found it difficult working in a hearing environment that offered little support. Now, with the assistance of TLC’s full-time communicator, Erich is finding that there are no limits to his creativity.

Erich is studying computer graphics, photography, video and sculpture and recently completed a deaf music video about Deaf pride. Erich says, “Deaf are very proud of sign language. I want to show everyone that Deaf are the equal of everyone else.” Erich’s goal is to work in a creative industry and to eventually run a photography business of his own.

Erich is thoroughly enjoying studying at TLC and is taking the opportunity to learn and expand his experiences while he is here. He particularly appreciates TLC’s relaxed atmosphere and the positive, friendly attitude of those around him and finds that he can be himself here.

“You can do this,” he says. “Come, it’s really supportive. TLC is great for creativity and very welcoming for Deaf students.”
