My art practice encompasses painting, drawing and 3D. I have worked across a number of ideas but mostly I am interested in using historical ideas to reflect on contemporary culture. I like to play with ideas around propaganda and the things we accept as ‘normal’. My artwork often takes digs at how the media presents our reality to us.

My interest in history also informs a lot of what I do. That might be as simple as taking a camouflage pattern and looking at how to uncover the stories and relationships that sit behind it. I love to play with relationships between things that happen today with those from the past and it’s important for me to find the humor in these ideas.

I’m currently doing a lot of figurative painting and I’m finding myself inspired by artists like David and Delacroix.

I think creative process is something that all individuals find for themselves. My process is quite intuitive but I like to underpin it with firm ideas. I start with a vision and then work towards that vision. I think it’s important not to overthink my work, for me it’s better to get it made and then sit back and consider where I'm going.

I really enjoy tutoring because the thing about TLC is that you can tailor what you do to the individual student. Each student has their own needs and ways of learning and being able to accommodate that is fantastic. Seeing students grow and develop is a really satisfying and special experience.
