James’ work has political undertones, it’s a social comment on modern life: “We have forgotten how to live.”

2009 brings TLC into its 3rd year of running free New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) classes for its staff and students! The ½ hr lunch time class is taught by onsite Deaf student, Rosie, and TLC’s Communicator, Ann, who are both excited to share this language with anyone who is interested to learn.

Those who have been involved since the beginning can now have signed conversations about almost anything, and those who have just begun are catching on fast!

NZSL is heaps of fun to learn and a really useful language to know. Come and join in the fun (Tuesdays 12.30 – 1pm), or if you are out of town, see if there are any NZSL classes being held at a community education centre near you!

TLC students enjoying the new environment.

TLC students enjoying the new environment.

During our move to Taita I was brought face-to-face with 20 years of Learning Connexion archives. It wasn’t quite a near-death experience but the whole history of TLC flashed before my eyes. Much of it went to the dump.
